A new eco-resort nestled among the protected mangroves, between the manatee and dolphin-inhabited canals of Valhalla Island in the Florida Keys.
As a designer and BIM Lead, I developed the detailed design and construction document sets for 15 amenity and utility buildings, and produced renderings. This involved thorough consultant coordination, research and specification for exterior and interior architecture.
Careful consideration was required for the ecologically sensitive site with extreme hurricane risk (the highest impact rating in the entire country).
We used SLOSH hurricane analysis to build to specific vulnerabilities.
Despite the delicate rustic wooden aesthetic, all buildings are capable of safely resisting up to 180mph (290km/h) wind and debris, and 30” (76cm) of ocean surge, with temperate conditioned interiors despite tropical heat.
